Q: Does the Rider Golf Bag Mount work with any electric scooter?
A: The default one works only with scooters whose structural member joining the deck to the steering is less than 13 cm in width and has parallel, plane and vertical surfaces on each side - Parallel Flat Rider Golf Bag Mount. But there are other options as well as seen on our buy page. Furthermore, there is a customized option as well if none of those work!
Q: Aren't the tires too narrow for a golf course?
A: Depends on the golf course. 2 inch tire width ones are mostly for the cart path and drier courses, as the ground is never soft enough for your scooter tires to leave a mark on the turf. 4 inch tire width ones can be used anywhere a golf cart goes.
Q: Would my electric scooter battery last the 18 holes?
A: It depends on your scooter and the type of terrain. For reference, a very basic scooter that we tested (retails at less than USD 400) that has a 36V 5.2aH battery lasted right up to the 18th hole with few cart paths on a relatively flat course for a 150 pound golfer.
Q: How do I prevent my scooter kick stand from toppling due to the weight of the golf bag?
A: If you have a stand bag, you could just use the existing stand bag rods to park your scooter almost anywhere!
Alternatively, if you do not have a stand bag you could contact us for a shoe for your kick stand. That would also prevent the scooter from leaning too much so as to topple the scooter. See below.
Q: What kind of golf bags would work with the Rider Golf Bag Mount?
A: All bags work, but stand bags in particular work better as they come with the stand rods that can be used to park your scooter even on undulating land very easily. The stand bag should just be oriented left to right or right to left so as to have the legs face one side of the scooter. The other advantage is that as the shape of the bottom of the stand bag is usually oval, so it would occupy less deck space if oriented laterally.
Q: How do I secure the top of the golf bag?
A: The top of the bag should be kept tightly close to the steering column and you should use a small diameter loop available anywhere on the top of your bag to do so, for instance for this stand bag, we used this loop.
For this cart bag, we used this loop.
NOTE: Do not use the regular handle for securing the top of the golf bag.
You would notice some swaying of the top of the bag, but that is natural and will depend on how rigid a connection exists between the top of the golf bag and the bottom. For instance for most stand bags the connection is not rigid so you would notice more swaying of the top VS cart or pro bags that have a more rigid connection.
Q: My deck space is limited, so adding a bag could limit how I place my feet. How do we work around that?
A: Just orient the bag where the handle faces either the left or the right of the scooter, so you would orient your bag either left to right or right to left. See illustration below.
Q: Wouldn't there be courses that won't allow an electric scooter?
A: Yes there will be, just like there will be courses that are ride-only. But in general if a golf course allows golfers to have their own transportation (not rented from the course), then they will allow this as well. Best option is to ask your local course. We have found that if you bring the scooter to the golf course and let them see it, most would not have an issue. Tire width also plays a role so it is a good idea to stay on the cart path if your scooter width is about 2 inches and the course is not the dry kind.
Q: What if my course requires liability insurance?
A: Contact your existing home insurance provider. Some may already cover operating an electric scooter. Alternatively, just print out a liability waiver related to using your scooter on the golf course and give it to them.
Q: Where do I keep my beer?
A: Bad idea.
